Coat of Arms of Ghana

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service (OHCS) has officially commissioned a newly renovated reception and elevator to enhance accessibility and service delivery on Tuesday April 14,2026.

Welcoming guests to the occasion, the Head of the Civil Service Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, acknowledged the selfless contributions of staff both past and present and said the project reflects OHCS’s commitment to creating a dignified, inclusive, and professional environment.

In his keynote address, the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei commended the leadership of OHCS for investing in infrastructure that goes beyond aesthetics to embody inclusivity, efficiency, and professionalism. He emphasized that the reception area, as the first point of contact for clients and stakeholders, plays a vital role in shaping perceptions of public service.

The addition of the elevator, he noted, “fundamentally improves accessibility and safety within the facility.”

Highlighting Ghana’s Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715), the Minister stressed that accessibility is not a luxury but a right. He praised OHCS for setting a benchmark by translating policy into action, urging other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to upgrade their facilities to meet modern accessibility standards.

“Quality service delivery thrives where accessibility is assured and the working environment enables every individual to contribute fully,” Hon. Adjei stated, calling the project a symbol of progress, inclusiveness and excellence in public administration.

The Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Dr. Lawrence Kannea called on the management and staff to ensure good maintenance culture and proper utilization of the facilities.

The Commissioning ceremony was graced by members of the Civil Service Council, Chief Directors and staff of OHCS.
