NEWLY RECRUITED BUDGET ANALYSTS TRAINED
A four-day capacity-building programme has been held for newly recruited Budget Analysts in the Ghana Civil Service. The training aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the financial management systems within the Service, with a particular focus on the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act and other key legal and institutional frameworks that govern their work.
In his address, the Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, urged the officers to approach their roles with dedication, discipline, and a strong sense of patriotism.
He emphasized that the knowledge and skills gained through the training would not only enhance their current performance but also position them for future leadership roles within the Service. “If you commit yourselves fully, you will one day emerge as some of the finest leaders this country can rely on,” Dr. Aggrey-Darkoh stated.
The Director for Recruitment, Training and Development (RTDD), Dr. Elizabeth Obeng Yeboah, also engaged the participants on the core functions of the Ghana Civil Service. Her presentation covered the institution’s code of conduct, guiding principles, and ethical standards.
She encouraged the officers to take the training seriously, highlighting its importance in enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the mission and vision of their respective ministries, and to the achievement of Ghana’s broader development goals.
The training sessions featured a blend of technical presentations, interactive discussions, and case studies. Key topics covered included the structure of Public Financial Management, principles and objectives of public sector budgeting, the budget cycle, and the roles of key stakeholders in the budgeting process.
