The Acting Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Thomas Nii Ashaley Thompson-Aryee, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, paid a courtesy call on the Head of Ghana’s Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, at his office in Accra. The visit formed part of Mr. Thompson-Aryee’s ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts following his recent appointment by the President, H. E John Dramani Mahamah to the leadership of the Agency.
The primary purpose of the meeting was to formally introduce himself to the Head of Civil Service, share his strategic vision for the Internal Audit Agency, and initiate conversations aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two institutions.
Welcoming the Acting Director-General, Dr. Aggrey-Darkoh described the visit as timely and significant, given the growing need for coordinated efforts in promoting transparency, accountability, and value for money in public financial management. He commended the Internal Audit Agency for its critical oversight role in ensuring the effective and efficient use of public resources.
The discussions of the meeting focused on fostering closer collaboration between the Internal Audit Agency and the Civil Service. Both leaders emphasized the importance of initiatives such as capacity-building workshops, knowledge-sharing conferences, and structured engagements among key players in the public financial management to address recurring audit infractions and perceived corruption within the public service.
